Academic Innovation & Distance Education

Academic Innovation & Distance Education supports teaching, learning, and online programs at Bunker Hill Community College. AIDE partners with faculty, staff, and students who want to learn more in order to succeed in today's digital world.

Our Mission

The mission of Academic Innovation & Distance Education at BHCC is to advance college goals by inspiring creative collaboration and empowered experimentation among faculty, staff, and students. In addition, we provide innovative, inclusive, and accessible teaching and learning opportunities and resources to the BHCC community.

Digital Tools

Digital learning tools are the software tools used by the BHCC community and supported by the Academic Innovation & Distance Education team. We encourage faculty, staff, and students at BHCC to be creative and to try many different tools to support learning! Though the AIDE team cannot officially support all learning platforms, we are always willing to try and work with the BHCC Community to navigate different tools.

Digication ePortfolio – Electronic Portfolio

An Electronic Portfolio (ePortfolio) is a digital collection of artifacts and media that showcase or reflect on ones professional, academic or personal achievements. As a member of the BHCC community, you have access to a site called Digication (bhcc.digication.com), where you can create as many ePortfolio sites as you like. Learn more about how you can use ePortfolios below:

Microsoft 365 – Microsoft Cloud Solutions

Bunker Hill Community College provides Microsoft Office to every student, faculty and staff member free of charge. This means the latest version of the full Office productivity suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, OneDrive, and more available for offline and online use to best prepare you for class. As long as you are a student here, you will be able to use this software for free.

Moodle – Learning Management System

Moodle is the official Learning Management System (LMS) used at BHCC. It is a site where every faculty member (or staff member) can build Moodle course sites for each one of their classes. These course sites act as a teaching and learning environment where Teachers and educators can deliver resources, assignments, quizzes and facilitate discussion forums for their students. The department of Academic Innovation & Distance Education (AIDE) creates a Moodle site for every class at BHCC (Not every class is required to use Moodle, but the course shell or template is available if a faculty member decides to use it). Every BHCC user has access to Moodle and can login using their BHCC login credentials.

Panopto – Video Recording & Video Management Tool

Panopto is a video recording & Video Management platform that BHCC faculty, staff & students can access to create and share videos. You might think of Panopto as a personal repository for video content. It’s like a YouTube channel, but for school or work. Every BHCC faculty, staff, and student can use Panopto to create videos. Go to bhcc.onelogin.com and sign in with your BHCC credentials.

Webex – One stop shop for meetings

Webex is a comprehensive collaboration suite that brings together global workforce, BHCC faculty/staff, and students, offering powerful calling, engaging meetings, simplified webinar management, and integration with Moodle courses, empowering seamless communication, virtual classes, and teamwork through Webex Meetings and Webex Teams. Every BHCC user has access to Webex and can login using their BHCC login credentials.

Discontinuation of LinkedIn Learning

As of June 19, 2024, access to LinkedIn Learning will be discontinued. This means that all access to course content, as well as user learning history, will no longer be available after that date.

To download your learning history, go to the “My Learning” tab at the top of your account and click “learning history.” Beside each course, there’s a “more” button drop-down where you can download your certificates or add them to your LinkedIn profile (if connected).

If you connected your LinkedIn Learning account to a LinkedIn profile, in the future, if you are to regain access to LinkedIn Learning, your learning history will remain tied to you and can be transferred to your future account. Your learning history will be available once you access a new LinkedIn Learning account.

For those of you who still need to connect to a LinkedIn profile, if you are to regain access to LinkedIn Learning, you will start without your learning history. If you want to save your history, please connect your LinkedIn Learning account to a LinkedIn profile before June 19, 2024.
