Entrepreneurship Overview

This course provides an introduction to the principles of entrepreneurship and aims to provide attendees with the skills needed to effectively organize, develop, create, and manage a business. Topics include opportunity recognition, developing an effective business model, preparing the proper legal foundation, attaining financing, and small business marketing to name a few. Upon completion, attendees should have a solid understanding of the entrepreneurial process and the issues to consider when starting a small business.

Non-Profit Management

This course provides an introduction to creating a non-profit business. Topics include: Legal creation, board recruiting, finances, ethics, business planning, fundraising. Students will create a business plan of their own, incorporating the points covered. Participants will be able to make presentations (or pitches) to the group of their business plan for feedback.

Basic Life Support (BLS)*

The Basic Life Support course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC). The Basic Life Support Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.

First Aid / Heartsaver® CPR AED*

First Aid / Heartsaver CPR AED is available in classroom training format. The Heartsaver CPR AED course teaches science-based skills, resulting in an American Heart Association Course Completion Card. Heartsaver CPR AED is geared for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years.

ServSafe Manager*

Successful completion of the ServSafe® Manager course includes a certification that verifies that a manager or person-in-charge has sufficient food safety knowledge to protect the public from foodborne illness. Participants who successfully pass the 90-question, multiple-choice exam will receive a ServSafe Manager Certification and wallet card.

ServSafe Food Handler*

The ServSafe® Food Handler Certification is for food handlers such as waitstaff, cooks, and dishwashers. Successful completion of this course includes certification that proves that you have the knowledge and skills to handle food safely and prevent foodborne illnesses in the workplace. To receive this certification, you must pass a test that covers basic food safety concepts.

ServSafe Allergen Awareness*

Successful completion of the ServSafe® Allergen Awareness course includes a certification that shows you have completed a food allergen training course and that you understand the basics of preventing allergic reactions to food.

Successful completion of the ServSafe® Alcohol course provides the industry's most comprehensive training for managers, bartenders and servers. The course teaches servers selling techniques that increase food and beverage sales and tips.

The abbreviation “TIPS” stands for Training for Intervention ProcedureS. The course teaches servers selling techniques that increase food and beverage sales and tips. To be TIPS certified, you must successfully complete this TIPS training course.
