Eye on Early Education Profiles Business Management Major Teresia Kiragu

Friday, November 20, 2020

Through an internship at Strategies for Children, Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) Business Management major Teresia Kiragu has learned firsthand how the Massachusetts state budget distributes funds to schools. She learned that while Massachusetts has a strong early childhood education system, the state needs more funding to keep up with communities’ needs.

Strategies for Children works to ensure that Massachusetts adequately invests the resources needed for all children, from birth to age five, so the state can provide access to high-quality early education programs. Interns at Strategies help with advocacy, research, and social media. In addition, interns help Strategies expand their reach by asking important questions and contributing to new ideas.

Teresia enrolled in the Business Management program at BHCC with the vision that one day, she will open a non-governmental organization to help children who are vulnerable and give them an opportunity to get a strong education.

The Office of Internships and Career Development at BHCC connects and develops the diverse abilities, knowledge, and experience of the student population with internships and career opportunities in the Greater Boston community. The office collaborates with faculty, staff, and employers to bridge the students’ academic and workplace knowledge to become career confident citizens in a global work environment.
