Bunker Hill Community College Commences 50th Anniversary with Birthday Week Celebration

Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) celebrated its 50th birthday in grand style with a week-long series of events that marked a significant milestone.

Spanning five days, September 18-22, the events held at both the Charlestown and Chelsea campuses were a testament to the College's dedication, resilience, and growth since its inception in 1973. 

The week kicked off with a vibrant Paint Night Party on Monday in the Health and Wellness Center Lobby of the Charlestown Campus. Attendees enjoyed snacks, while indulging in their artistic side, capturing the essence of iconic Boston landmarks and BHCC’s mascot.  

Spirit Day followed with a day of revelry and pride where attendees celebrated the essence of BHCC. With snacks, fun photos, school pride at its peak, and a plethora of giveaways, it was a day to remember.  

On Wednesday, the celebrations shifted to the Chelsea Campus at 1 p.m., where the Community Room transformed into a hub of music, entertainment, and sharing. Participants enjoyed food, music, had their photos taken, won giveaways, and shared memories of their time at BHCC. The party continued at the Charlestown Campus at 6 p.m. with the Alumni Music Concert. Alumni, students, employees, and the community showcased their musical talents during the Open Mic Night, with many returning to their alma mater for this special occasion. A reception followed the musical performance, allowing for reconnections and reminiscing.

The International Day of Peace was observed on Thursday with a serene drum circle in the B-Building Lobby of the Charlestown Campus. The rhythm of the drums resonated with the heartbeat of the institution, while attendees captured moments with fun photos, shared stories, and enjoyed delectable food and giveaways.
