BHCC Students Get Dressed for Success—with a Little Help from Their Friends
Thursday, January 14, 2016
Interview-hopefuls chose from among 190 items of professional wear donated by BJ’s, BHCC faculty and staff and the Charlestown Mothers Association, a local nonprofit. Cosmetics company Mary Kay provided wardrobe and makeup consulting.
But the assistance was more than skin deep. Members of BHCC’s Student Success Club, which fosters the academic, professional and social success of BHCC students, coached fellow students. Lean and Earn staff took headshots of students to boost their LinkedIn profiles, and Learn and Earn staff referred students to Dress for Success, a non-profit organization that provides interview suits and career development to low-income women in more than 75 cities worldwide.
While polishing their appearance and their job skills, students were treated to a fashion show featuring Learn and Earn interns, heard testimonials from current and former Learn and Earn interns, and listened to music by DJ Junior, a BHCC student.
