Program Outcomes

Program outcomes are defined as performance indicators that reflect the extent to which the purposes of the program are achieved and by which program effectiveness is documented. Program outcomes are measurable, consumer-oriented indexes designed to evaluate the degree to which the program is achieving its mission and goals. Examples include, but are not limited to, program completion rates, licensure/certification examination pass rates, and job placement rates.

Graduation

The BHCC Nurse Education has a graduating class in December and May for each academic year.

Program Completion

The BHCC Nurse Education faculty have/approved two program completion goals for students; one to address Massachusetts regulations and one to address national standards.

MA BORN – Beginning with the first nursing course, 70% of students will complete the program within 150% of the stated program length.

NCLEX RN Pass Rates

The BHCC Nurse Education faculty have/approved a goal that 80% of graduates will pass the NCLEX RN licensure exam on their first attempt. The chart below compares the BHCC pass rates to the national and Massachusetts results for the most recent academic years.

Job Placement

The BHCC Nurse Education faculty have/approved a goal that 80% of graduates will be employed as a nurse within 10 months after graduation. The types of RN positions reported by graduates include acute care, rehabilitation, long term care, outpatient/clinic, home care and other services. The results shown are based on responses to a graduate survey.
