Career Exploration & Assessment
While some students begin college knowing what they want to study, many are unsure of their career goals or change their minds during their time at BHCC. Exploring careers and BHCC’s Programs of Study, also known as majors, are important first steps in creating a long term educational and career plan.
Students can use resources such as Career Coach and MassHire CIS to take assessments, and connect careers to their abilities, interests, and goals. Assessments are a tool for students to learn more about themselves regarding their interests, preferences, skills, and possible career pathways/employment. Resources such as Career Coach and MassHire CIS also provide information regarding the level of education required for the career, employment trends, and job skills.
It is never too early for students to think about how their Program of Study connects to their future career. Using these resources and meeting with an Advisor for more in-depth discussions of assessment results and career goals will help students understand where they are and learn how to get to where they want to be.
