In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts, The Honorable Carmen M. Ortiz, will speak at Bunker Hill Community College on Tuesday, October 4, 2011. The event will be held from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., at the College's Chelsea Campus (175 Hawthorne Street, Bellingham Square, Chelsea, MA 02150). The talk is free and open to the public.

Bunker Hill Community College Wins $1,150,000 Grant to Prepare Students for College

Bunker Hill Community College received a five-year grant of $230,000 per year through the U.S. Department of Education Talent Search program, BHCC President Mary L. Fifield announced today. The Talent Search grant is designed to prepare high school students from disadvantaged backgrounds for entry and success in college. With BHCC as the lead institution, the project's other partners include the Chelsea Public Schools, Families United in Educational Leadership (FUEL), and Choice Thru Education.

Psychologist Dr. Paula J. Caplan, author of When Johnny and Jane Come Marching Home: How All of Us Can Help Veterans, will be a guest speaker at Bunker Hill Community College on September 22, 2011. The talk, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 1:00 in Lecture Hall C202. This talk is sponsored by the College's Veterans Center.

Bunker Hill Community College Wins Major State Grant to Accelerate Student Success

Bunker Hill Community College has received a grant of $200,802 from a Commonwealth of Massachusetts program designed to reward campus efforts to improve educational outcomes and to spur further innovation, BHCC President Mary L. Fifield announced today. The College placed among the top three recipients in a competitive process involving the state’s 29 colleges and universities. Grants ranging from $53,800 to $233,417 went to 18 successful applicants. An external review panel evaluated proposals and made recommendations for funding.

Award-winning Filmmaker and Author Michael Moore Speaks on September 15, 2011

Michael Moore, the celebrated documentary filmmaker, author and raconteur, will speak at Bunker Hill Community College on Thursday, September 15, 2011, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Moore will be this year’s first speaker in the College’s “Compelling Conversations” series, which is free and open to the public. Moore’s visit to BHCC is also part of a book tour for Here Comes Trouble: Stories from My life, which has just been released.
